Waiters Corkscrew
This 4-1/2-inch waiters corkscrew with a nonstick coating is a classic corkscrew design that has a foil cutter blade, a two stage cork lifter and bottle opener. Open a wine bottle by twisting in the screw, placing the openers shortest step on the top of the bottle lip and pivoting up the handle. After raising the cork partially, lower the handle to engage the longest opener step on the bottle lip then pivot on the handle to remove the cork from the bottle.

Our Products: Employee Tested, Customer Approved
All of our products have been extensively tested in our kitchens to ensure that we are bringing our customers the best value possible at an affordable price. We have run our turners through the dishwasher hundreds of times before marking them dishwasher safe, and have cooked with our silicone utensils for years to verify their durability. Each detail is scrutinized and revamped by both our employees (and their families), so we are confident that we bring you the best possible value in our products.

Our Story
Chef Craft was founded in 1985 by Peter Ernster. It was passed down the family through the generations. We have kept the same vision as the beginning: bringing our customers the best value based products that we can. Today, it means shifting towards sourcing products made with more sustainable materials like bamboo and wheat straw.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this corkscrew look out of place in a clean, minimal kitchen?
No. The slim 5-inch silhouette and the four neutral color options, including Black/Chrome, Stainless Steel/Black, White, and Natural, are designed to blend into pared-down interiors rather than compete with them.
Does owning this let me get rid of my separate foil cutter and bottle opener?
Yes. The integrated foil cutter blade and built-in bottle opener replace the need for two extra tools, which is exactly the kind of consolidation a minimalist kitchen benefits from. One drawer, one tool, no clutter.
Is the finish matte or glossy? I prefer understated surfaces.
The Black/Chrome and Stainless Steel/Black options lean toward a polished, brushed look, while the White and Natural finishes read softer and more matte. Choose Natural or White for the most understated surface.
Does it have any branding or loud logos that disrupt a clean look?
The Chef Craft Select corkscrew carries minimal branding, with no oversized graphics or loud text. The result is a quiet, tool-like appearance that fits well in intentionally designed kitchens.
Can I store it out of sight without losing the benefit of having it?
Yes. At just 5 inches long, it tucks into a slim drawer organizer, a knife block insert, or a small pouch inside a cabinet. Many owners store it in an apron pocket or utensil caddy so it stays accessible without adding visual weight to the counter.
Is this a good fit for a small apartment or capsule kitchen?
It is ideal. Small kitchens rarely have room for a full bar tool set, and this single piece covers opening wine, cutting foil, and popping bottle caps. It is one of the most space-efficient wine tools available.
Is this an essential buy for someone building a minimalist bar cart?
It is one of the few bar tools that earns its place on a minimalist bar cart. Rather than displaying a full set, you can show just this one piece, a single decanter, and a couple of glasses for a curated, intentional look.
Does the design feel dated, or is it timeless enough for a long-term kitchen?
The waiter-style corkscrew silhouette has been used in restaurants for decades and reads as classic rather than trendy. It will look just as appropriate in a kitchen ten years from now as it does today.
How does this compare to a bulky electric wine opener for someone who values simplicity?
Electric openers take up counter space, require charging or batteries, and add a plastic element to the kitchen. This manual corkscrew is smaller than a TV remote, needs no power, and has nothing to break, which aligns much better with a minimalist lifestyle.
How does this compare to a traditional winged corkscrew?
Winged corkscrews are larger, more mechanical-looking, and harder to store. The waiter-style design here is sleeker, more discreet, and uses a two-step lever system that is actually easier on the hands.
How does this compare to a foil cutter and opener sold as a set?
Buying them separately means two tools to buy, clean, and store, and two items that can get separated in a drawer. The integrated design eliminates that redundancy, which is a core principle of minimalism.
I am concerned that even one more tool is too much. Is it really necessary?
If you open wine more than a few times a year, it earns its place. The two-step lever, foil cutter, and bottle opener are all functions you would otherwise need three separate tools to cover, so this single piece actually reduces total tool count.
Does the stainless steel show fingerprints and water spots easily?
Stainless steel can show marks if left wet, but a quick wipe with a soft cloth after washing keeps it looking clean. The Black/Chrome and darker finishes are even more forgiving if you prefer a tool that always looks pristine.
Will it work with the wine I already buy?
Yes. The sharp worm screw and two-step lever handle standard corks on most wine bottles, including natural cork and synthetic cork. It is not designed for sparkling wine or screw-cap bottles.
Is the tool heavy or does it feel cheap and light?
The stainless steel and metal construction give it a reassuring, balanced weight in the hand without feeling heavy. It feels like a quality restaurant tool rather than a flimsy novelty.
I worry stainless steel will clash with my matte black fixtures. Which color should I pick?
The Black/Chrome version is the best match for matte black kitchens and barware. It has the same darker tone but adds a subtle chrome highlight that complements, rather than fights, black hardware.
How do I open a wine bottle with this corkscrew step by step?
First, fold out the small foil cutter blade and rotate it around the neck of the bottle to remove the foil seal. Then unfold the spiral worm, place the tip on the center of the cork, and twist downward until only one turn is visible. Flip up the first lever, rest it on the bottle lip, and press down to start the cork moving. Flip up the second lever and press again to fully extract the cork.
How do I clean and care for the corkscrew?
The corkscrew is top-rack dishwasher safe, so you can simply place it in the utensil basket of your dishwasher. For routine care, a quick rinse under warm water and a wipe with a soft cloth is enough. Avoid leaving it soaking to preserve the nonstick coating on the worm screw.
How do I use the integrated bottle opener?
The bottle opener is built into the opposite end of the handle from the foil cutter. Unfold it, slide the curved edge under the cap of a beer or soda bottle, and use the handle as a lever to pop the cap off. It works on standard crown caps.
Will this corkscrew work with all wine bottle types?
It works with standard 750ml wine bottles that use natural cork or synthetic cork closures, which is the vast majority of wines sold. It is not designed for sparkling wine, which requires a different tool, or for screw-cap bottles that do not need an opener at all.
Can I take this corkscrew in my carry-on luggage when flying?
Yes. Manual waiter-style corkscrews under 7 inches are allowed in carry-on luggage by the TSA and most international aviation authorities. It is a popular travel companion for wine country trips and vineyard tours.
What is included in the box when I order this corkscrew?
The package includes one Chef Craft Select Waiters Corkscrew in your chosen colorway. No batteries, accessories, or extra parts are required, and the tool is ready to use straight out of the package.
Is the corkscrew safe to use if I have arthritis or limited hand strength?
The two-step lever mechanism is specifically designed to reduce the force needed to remove a cork, making it one of the easier manual corkscrews for users with arthritis, smaller hands, or limited grip strength. Many customers with hand mobility issues prefer this style over winged corkscrews.
Will the worm screw damage or crumble the cork?
No. The sharp worm screw and nonstick coating are designed to penetrate the cork cleanly and release it smoothly. When used properly with a centered insertion, the cork comes out intact, which is important for older or more fragile natural corks.
